GRAND MASTER

ALFREDO AGUIRRE

Grandmaster (GM) Alfredo Aguirre has devoted over 43 years as a Kajukenbo student and instructor. He began martial arts at the young age 12 in his home town of Tijuana, Mexico. Like many boys his age, he was inspired by his TV hero Chuck Norris. To promote his early interest, his father enrolled him and his little sister Veronica in a class with GM Ventura Silva. During this period he practiced and trained in Tang Soo Do (Korean Martial Arts), Kung Fu (Chinese Martial Arts) and Kajukenbo.

After 40 plus years devoted to Martial Arts he has developed his method of teaching and passing on the great lessons of Kajukenbo taught to him by his Senior Grand Master Edmund Lewis who awarded him the Ninth-Degree Black Belt in 2016.

GM Aguirre has had Keno schools in both San Diego, CA and in Bellingham, WA welcoming students of  all ages. His three young sons all received their black belts before the age of 18 and he looks forward to passing on the art to his new grand-daughter.

Today, GM Aguirre is still personally competing bi-monthly in Forms and Weapons and currently is starting a new school in Mount Vernon, Washington. When asked what was the primary reason he enjoys teaching while still competing? His answer is, "It wasn't until I was asked to step up into a teaching role did I understand the true art of this sport. Teaching made me realize the 'why' behind each of the moves in Kajukenbo."

To this day he still is perfecting his technique, and is inspired by his up-and-coming young and older athletes in his classes. Outside competing and instructing GM Aguirre is a superintendent for a local construction company full-time. He also has 3 grown sons who have their black belts under his training and a new granddaughter that is his newest pride and joy.   He very much looks forward to passing his kajukenbo knowledge on to his 3rd generation and other youths.
